None at all. These courses are built for complete beginners, and they walk you through every DOT requirement from the ground up.
Yes. The course follows 49 CFR Part 40 and covers everything that's required, including the 5 error-free mock collections collectors have to do.
Your DOT collector and BAT qualification happens in a live, scheduled Zoom session with an instructor, and that's where you do the supervised mock collections Part 40 requires. You also get self-paced modules in your student portal to study ahead of time and look back at whenever.
The online modules take about 2—3 hours for the Collector course and 1—2 hours for BAT. After that you do one live Zoom session with an evaluator to get qualified. A lot of people get through the modules and book their session in the same week.
You get an official training certificate, your completed mock collection records, a qualification statement, and a full documentation package. Basically everything you'd need for a DOT audit.
